Torment-A

Van Gogh is one of my favorite artists, and I can’t help but be influenced by him when I paint, as his way of painting speaks so loudly to me. These types of swirls and colors are common in my art, it helps me convey the movement that I feel in everything, even when something seems to be sitting perfectly still. Here, there is no stillness, only a dark storm, and a funny little boat that doesn’t know any better than to not be scared. Sometimes, not knowing you should be afraid is exactly what keeps you from failing. Even through the storm, the ship prevails. Painted in Sadirac, France August 2016.
